In Blue Springs, Missouri, a compassionate volunteer from Farm To Able animal sanctuary took quick action when she noticed a small puppy tied to a kennel in the middle of a highway. With care and urgency, she freed the puppy and took him to safety in her car.
This rescued pup, later named Sullivan, found comfort in the kindness of his savior. The volunteer promptly informed Animal Control about the abandoned dog. After a mandatory five-day period during which no one claimed him, Sullivan needed to find a new home. Unfortunately, local shelters were full and unable to accommodate him.

Determined to help, the volunteer reached out to Sheriee, the sanctuary’s founder, who agreed to foster Sullivan and assist in finding him a permanent home. Once at the sanctuary, Sullivan began to explore his new surroundings, quickly befriending the resident pigs, chickens, cows, and horses. He appeared grateful for the sanctuary’s welcome, eagerly looking forward to the possibilities ahead.
As Sullivan settled into his temporary home, Sheriee diligently sought a permanent family for him. Her time with Sullivan revealed his exceptionally calm demeanor, a rare trait for a puppy. “He’s got a calmness about him that’s very, very unique for a puppy,” Sheriee shared with Cuddle Buddies.
Sheriee occasionally shared videos of Sullivan with her son, James, who had always wanted a dog. In a lighthearted moment, Sheriee suggested that James should consider adopting Sullivan. To her delight and surprise, James agreed.

Upon meeting Sullivan for the first time, James felt an immediate bond, believing Sullivan was meant to be his dog. “He said there was just something about it where he just felt like it was, that was his dog,” Sheriee recounted.
Sullivan also felt an instant connection, melting with affection as he was embraced by James. Overjoyed, Sheriee was convinced that Sullivan and her son were destined to be together. She expressed her happiness, knowing that Sullivan would be cherished. “He will never have to worry whether or not his human loves him or is coming back for him… He will always be safe, protected & loved beyond measure,” Sheriee wrote on Instagram.

After three weeks at the sanctuary, Sullivan relocated to Denver, Colorado, with James, embarking on the happiest chapter of his life. He now spends his days hiking with his dad and playing in the snow, relishing his new adventures.
Thanks to the kindhearted volunteer who rescued him, Sullivan found not only a home but also a life filled with joy and unconditional love.
