The smell
She just figured that there was something wrong with the sewers or something and paid little mind to it. But she could have never guessed that the behaviour of her cat and the smell were very much related. Missy knew something that Sandra didn’t… She was in a rush to get to her car, so she didn’t take the time to investigate the strange man and his smell. She was too focused on getting to her car and getting home. She was so preoccupied that she didn’t even notice the man’s strange clothing or the fact that he was carrying a large bag.
She was too busy worrying about getting home safely. She was so focused on her goal that she didn’t even think twice about the strong stench coming from the man. She just assumed it was a normal smell and kept walking. She was so intent on getting to her car that she didn’t even think to be suspicious of the man. Calmed down
Sandra’s workday went by relatively uneventfully, and her mind started to drift back to the morning. With her emotions having calmed down a bit and her having some more time now, she suddenly started to wonder what it was that Missy was doing in the sink… She was relieved that her day had been so uneventful, as it meant that she could focus on spending time with Missy and not worry about her work. She still can’t help but wonder about Missy’s newfound interest in the bathroom sink, though.
Was it really that comfortable for her that she hunkered down in it, completely ignoring Sandra? On one hand, she found that worrisome, but on the other, it was actually adorable, Sandra thought. She started to think about the events that transpired that morning in more detail. Was Missy just curious about the sink, or was there something else going on? She thought about the fact that Missy had been so quiet and still in the sink, and wondered if she was trying to hide from something.
What did it want in the sink?
The fact that the cat could not be tempted away from there even by treats was very strange, and that it immediately went back to begging at the closed door showed that there was really something going on there. She had ignored it that morning, but now she could not stop thinking about the sink… Sandra decided to keep an eye on Missy, in case there was something wrong with the bathroom.

Getting back to Missy

But, when Sandra came into the house, the cat started waking up very quickly. Sandra was relieved to see that she was still there and safe. She was also relieved that she didn’t have to search the entire house for her.
She was so relieved that she immediately scooped up Missy and hugged her tightly. She was so thankful that she was safe and sound. Sandra was also thankful that she didn’t have to worry about her being outside in the cold. She was so relieved that she could finally relax and enjoy the rest of her evening.
Something had changed in the bathroom.
With the window now closed, Sandra was confident in opening the bathroom door again, and Missy jumped into the sink within a millisecond and started sniffing at the drain. But something had changed in this room during the day, and Sandra noticed it in an instant… Missy was more excited than usual. She was sniffing the drain with an intensity that Sandra had never seen before.

She was desperate for help and this young cop seemed to be more interested in his phone than her problem.
She tried to remain polite, but she was frustrated and wanted to get to the bottom of the issue. She asked him to come in and take a look at the sewer, but he just shrugged. Sandra was appalled and couldn’t believe the lack of urgency from this officer. She wanted to tell him off right then and there, so she could ask for a more experienced cop. But she wasn’t sure if anyone else would come by if she sent this one away. Little did he know…
A quick exit
The officer clearly had in mind to convince Sandra to have a specialist check out the sewer. He was young and ambitious, so a call like this was something to finish as soon as possible. The officer was about to leave, and Sandra agreed if he’d take a look at Missy first. He agreed. He was eager to show off his knowledge and experience, and seemed dismissive of the idea of a specialist. Little did he know, he was about to make a big discovery.

He changed his mind
