Just as Amanda was coming to terms with the thought of losing her dog, he finally came running out behind the vet. It was a huge relief for her to see him like his old self again.
However, Amanda’s joy was short-lived as the vet soon told her the truth. He explained that Chester had somehow come into contact with poison oak. She couldn’t believe what she heard.
It was irritating his skin to the extent that he decided to shut it down rather than deal with it. The vet advised Amanda that she would have to keep Chester away from their beloved tree. She had no idea that it was poison oak, not an oak tree. In her defense, she had never seen an oak tree. She was told by the realtor when they moved in that it was an oak tree. It made sense, the tree did seem quite small.
