They adopted Josey that very day and brought her home to join their lively household. “Mom, she’s getting bigger!” Sam exclaimed one morning, rushing into the kitchen.
Emma looked up from her coffee. “What do you mean, bigger?” Sam’s eyes were wide. “Josey! She looks like she’s been eating a lot.”
Emma frowned, setting down her cup. She followed Sam outside and saw what he meant. Josey’s belly was noticeably rounder than when they had first brought her home. “Maybe she’s just been eating well,” Emma said, though a seed of worry planted itself in her mind.
