It’s disheartening to consider the many dogs exploited for profit, deprived of the love and care they deserve.
Among these unfortunate animals was a dog named Tina Turner, who was mistreated by breeders and abandoned when she was no longer useful. Found wandering in a desolate area, Tina was thin and scared, scavenging for scraps of food, feeling both lost and hopeless.
Then, something remarkable happened.
Prue, the founder of the animal rescue organization Mission Pawsible, spotted Tina and immediately took action to help. The dog, terrified of humans, was in poor condition, suffering from hair loss and malnourishment, and understandably wary of strangers. Despite Prue’s intentions, Tina tried to evade her.
Observing that Tina was limping and appeared to have recently given birth, Prue followed her through the deserted landscape. Tina eventually retreated to a hiding spot surrounded by branches, barking defensively as Prue approached.
The situation seemed daunting until Tina became entangled in some vines, preventing her from running further.
Seizing this opportunity, Prue gently looped a slip leash around Tina’s neck, coaxing her to safety despite her continued protests. Once in the car, Tina finally relaxed, realizing that Prue meant no harm.
Prue then took Tina to a veterinarian, who diagnosed her limp as a result of nerve damage from overbreeding. Back at Mission Pawsible, Jullie, the director, offered to foster Tina, ensuring she received the care and affection she desperately needed.
That same evening, Prue returned to the area to search for any puppies but found none.
Under Jullie’s nurturing care, Tina slowly opened up and started to trust her foster family. She regained her confidence and even began wagging her tail again.
Over time, with love and attention, Tina’s fur grew back, and she blossomed into a beautiful, fluffy dog. Her initial timidity faded, revealing a sweet nature, and she became most content when snuggled with her foster family.
Realizing that Tina had become an inseparable part of the family, Jullie decided to adopt her permanently. “It’s so good that we can give her this fun, loving, cuddly life she so deserves. And she just absorbs it,” Jullie shared with The Dodo.
Tina’s journey from a frightened and neglected dog to a cherished and confident family member underscores the transformative power of compassion.
