The Heartwarming Rescue of a Chihuahua Trio in Compton

Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, a rescue organization in California, often responds to calls about stray dogs seeking care and shelter in Southern California. However, one particular call stood out. A concerned individual notified Hall about three inseparable dogs wandering around an abandoned property in Compton.

This rescue mission was more challenging than usual, as rescuing one scared dog is tough, let alone three. “It was beyond heartbreaking to see. They are all so tiny,” Hall expressed on Facebook. Despite the urgency, mechanical issues with her rescue van delayed Hall’s mission for a couple of days.

In the meantime, Hall’s friend, Mary Nakiso, took it upon herself to visit the pups daily, providing them with nourishing meals to keep them healthy until Hall could arrive. Upon her arrival, Hall was moved by the bond the dogs shared. “They were so scared, but they had each other,” noted Hall.

Approaching the dogs with caution and kindness, Hall began by comforting them from a distance to avoid frightening them. She managed to quickly secure the smallest pup while Nakiso worked to gain the trust of the middle one. “The little girl loved Mary so much,” Hall remarked. Oscar and his sister Jolene were safely settled in Hall’s van as they prepared to rescue their older brother, Ollie, who remained hesitant and secluded in a garage.

Recognizing Ollie’s need for space, Hall decided to give him time and took his siblings to Camino Pet Hospital. Later, she returned equipped with a humane trap to safely bring Ollie out of hiding. Her efforts paid off the following morning when Ollie was found waiting in the trap. Hall promptly reunited him with his siblings at the veterinary hospital.

Once cleared by the vet, the trio went to a foster home, thanks to Hall’s friend Genavie Ochoa, who graciously took them in. Although Ollie struggled with trust issues, Jolene and Oscar were quickly adapting to their new environment, embracing the comforts of a home.

“They were all so scared. So cold, so hungry. But they were finally all safe,” Hall shared. Despite their difficult past, there’s hope for Ollie, Jolene, and Oscar to find a permanent loving home, where they can fully enjoy life as cherished pets. Until then, the love and care they receive from their foster family provide them much-needed comfort and security. “I’m sure they haven’t slept this good in a long time. They have each other,” Hall concluded.

For those interested, Logan’s Legacy 29 welcomes anyone willing to adopt or foster this adorable Chihuahua trio to give them a forever home.
