Ben Got Furious and Confused
After the sedation process ended, the police turned to Ben and insisted that it was essential he goes with them. He was stunned to hear that. He was sure that he didn’t do anything wrong, but then he thought he was arrested for negligence. All these were running in his mind. Even though he was shaky, he tried his best to answer the police clearly, explaining that he did nothing wrong.
The police asked him many questions that mostly revolved around his life and the horse he had since his childhood. Later, the door to where the mare was opened, and the veterinarian came out wearing a face of disbelief.
What Might Be So Shocking?
Looking back to where everything started, the mare was pregnant for close to a year, and in actuality, a horse’s gestation period goes from 11 to 12 months. So at that point, it was quite close to popping, but it seemed to have some challenges.
Ben confessed his love for the horse and couldn’t wait for it to have a foal since he didn’t want to buy another one. However, it was going through a life and death moment. He thought that instead of the vet focusing on the horse’s health, they should come up with several steps to take care of the expectant animals.
Measures Taken
The Animal Welfare Act of 2006 insists on a horse owner to fully protect the animal, and it also requires a person to look for a licensed professional to help lawfully impregnate it. Ben was overwhelmed when he found out he needed a licensed practitioner to adhere to the law. Apparently, he had thought of getting a new horse and saving the hassle of putting the animal at risk.
But after critically thinking about it for months, he looked for an expert who examined the horse for a few days. He then made sure that the horse had no possible issues while going through the reproduction process. So, Ben’s work was to wait.
A Good News Affirmed
Finally, Ben felt happy when the process became a success and his desire for the horse to become pregnant was fulfilled. He called the specialist two weeks later to confirm the news, and he scheduled an initial ultrasound to see if the news was legit.
The medical practitioner came with the scan and finally announced that Felicia had a foal in her tummy. And by the look of things, both the mother and the unborn animal were in good condition. Unfortunately, a few months later, things started turning south and some of Felicia’s activities, like sleeping, started changing and Ben raised some concerns.
Can’t Keep Calm Anymore
Even though the time came for the horse to give birth with that natural urge, it didn’t. Still, Ben started making everything perfect to receive the most awaited bundle of joy. Later, he contacted the vet about Felicia’s behavior and had to respond to some questions.
Ben explained that the horse was agitated, but after a while, it was no longer moving at all. The animal medic said that the poor horse needed to rest in a properly stretched manner to help in making way for the foal. Though it seemed like an easy task, the horse couldn’t stretch and was aggressive and in pain.
Felicia is Unapproachable

The horse was angry and didn’t want to see him. It started running around restlessly, but Ben hoped that he would escape from it unharmed. Besides, he didn’t have any other choice.
After consulting the vet, he guaranteed that the horse was alright because that was one of the ways to tell if the horse and the foal were well or not. Even though Felicia was unapproachable, Ben had to find a way to calmly approach Felicia.
Ben Was Shocked
After waiting for a while, Felicia finally calmed down and stretched. The animal medic asked Ben to move closer to her and feel her stomach. Suddenly, he realized something that looked like a bulge, and he had not seen it all those months that Felicia was expecting. He was worried and thought that the horse wasn’t alright.
When Ben informed the professional about what he found out, their tone changed, and they shortly suggested that an ultrasound needed to be done urgently to get to the root of the problem. They then asked him to stay calm and wait until they to arrive. However, something else happened.
The Doctor is Needed Urgently
Ben thought that since the doctor wasn’t far away, it would only take them 30 minutes to arrive. Unfortunately, they were caught up in traffic for a while longer than he anticipated. Apparently, it was rush hour like it happens in Los Angeles, where the average driver loses over 100 Hours yearly.
The animal medic knew the need to attend to Felicia was urgent but didn’t know how to get there. Luckily, Ben called one of his friends who had a motorcycle and asked him to go and pick up the medical professional. The request made things move swiftly, so the easier option was to go back and wait in the office.
The Saving Process Starts
After a few minutes, the doctor had already taken off from the clinic and was headed to Ben’s ranch. The serious examination of Felicia then started. After the stretch, she wasn’t moving. But when the medical practitioner came closer to her, she became agitated.
So, it became difficult and risky to sedate the mare and take her to the sonogram machine for examination. The professional needed any kind of possible help, but Ben and his friend were afraid of the aggressive Felicia. They all had no choice but to find a way to help the animal cool down so they could at least get a pain reliever injection.
Taking Risks to Save Lives
Usually, vets relate well with most animals and have tactics to make them feel better, even when they are in pain. So, this animal medic had an idea of administering the medication at a distance, but some complications were likely to happen. One of them would lead to Felicia’s foal not surviving, and it may also put the horse at risk.
Ben found the decision complicated and erroneous, but after some consultation, the professional helped him make the decision that was best for the mother and child. He later allowed the animal medic to use the strong medication if it guaranteed that Felicia would give birth successfully.
The Overwhelming Pressure
At this point, Ben was afraid for his poor horse, but he knew that he was helping it get out of the pain. He knew that Felicia was to be sedated so that he could give birth properly and normally, so he and the friend needed to vacate the stables immediately. However, they were a bit hesitant because the horse was so aggressive and could harm them.
Finally, the two managed to leave swiftly, and after a short while, the animal was sedated and was already in for the procedure. The animal medic waited for some minutes for the horse to nod off before performing the ultrasound.
Working Hand in Hand to Save Felicia
During the process, Felicia was fidgety and uneasy, so it wasn’t easy to perform the ultrasound on her. Ben helped the doctor by stretching the animal to stay in an appropriate position. After the vet observed the sonogram results, the face all of a sudden became gloomy and the mood changed.
Immediately, Ben realized that there was a problem but didn’t want to interrupt the medical professional, who then went to a corner to make a call. At that moment, Ben had no idea who they were calling. Suddenly, he became more anxious that he couldn’t get away from his dear Felicia.
The Unwelcome Visitors
As soon as the vet came back, he seemed to have devised a helpful strategy to save the mare’s life. By now, Felicia needed to quickly recuperate so she could give birth naturally because Ben was quite certain that his horse was healthy. He soon pulled the professional closer and gave him his consent to find a solution to the issue.
Suddenly, a peculiar noise was heard. It seemed like the police were moving closer to his ranch. So where were they headed? What might have brought them to the ranch? Ben quickly thought that the vet had called the police and informed them of his predicament.

The police’s appearance didn’t hinder the doctor or Ben from saving the mare’s life. The medical professional suggested that surgery should be done on the horse since its giant stomach wasn’t normal. They needed to fully sedate the animal but also needed a piece of police equipment to do it.
Ben seemed relaxed and let the cops do their work on the ranch. When he went closer to one policeman, he was surprised at what he said to him. He asked Ben several questions, which were actually probing him, but he had to answer them to save himself since he had nothing to hide.
The Untimely Interrogation
The cops began by posing simple questions, but again during the interrogation, Ben had to confirm that he was the one being questioned and that the horse in the stable was actually his. Ben was a bit confused by the type of queries they were asking him because they were bottomless. He wondered why the cops were requesting such details though.
They were curious about the root of Felicia’s pregnancy. Ben responded by saying he had spoken with a professional who could help him. He also explained that he consulted an expert who also made sure that everything was done legally. However, there was another issue.
Real Identity
The poor man had to clear his name by proving that everything that was happening was lawful, and he gave them his document to confirm it. Although everything Ben did was legal, there were some crucial documents that the police needed. One of the officers grabbed something from the bag, and Ben was taken aback.
Suddenly, the officer removed a few mugshots with some pictures of criminals and requested Ben to look for one person whom he was familiar with. After going through the pictures thoroughly, Ben noticed the face of the “expert” he had hired to get Felicia pregnant. He was shattered!
The Hidden Truth Came Out
Ben thought that since the expert made the horse pregnant, he couldn’t be the cause of its predicament. He also knew that he hadn’t done anything wrong to the mare. The man became more furious and uneasy, thinking of what the expert might have done to the poor horse. Could he be the reason that Felicia is unable to give birth?
Quickly, the police provided a detailed explanation of what was happening. Actually, the expert was a horse specialist, but he had a bad reputation for his medical conduct. The police had already noticed it and even urged the vets to keenly examine the expectant horses.
After Darkness Comes Light
All the while, the vet was examining the animal, and he noticed an odd object in the horse’s tummy through the ultrasound. The item was a known medical chip, so she decided to inform the cops. The claimed chip is an illegally manufactured object placed in the animal by the “specialist.”
The police worked with the animal medic to remove the chip so he could also look for an expert. When they were removing it, the police also helped medical professional to safely deliver the long-awaited foal. They also realized that the foal looked unique. It was more valuable, and Ben couldn’t keep calm after seeing it.
One Happy Family at Last
The expert seemed to have used a rare specimen to inter-breed the horses and input a chip in the mare. However, he didn’t inform the owner. Nonetheless, all was well and Felicia and her foal were doing great. The vet informed Ben that the issue was likely to happen because something different was planted inside of the animal.
The brand-new foal was named Siempre, who became a treasured asset. After going through the traumatic encounter during the foal’s birth, he had to have a special link to treasure forever. When all was said and done, the “expert” was jailed, and Ben, with his two adorable horses, lived happily ever after on the ranch.
