7. Scottish Fold
Scotch folds are known for their deformed cartilage, causing their ears to fold. Described as looking as an owl, it is described as having a feathered appearance. The Scottish Fold was originally called Lops or Lop-Eared before the 1960s. The name Scottish Fold was only adopted in 1966. In its original form, the Scottish Fold was a white barn cat with a mutation on its ear. It was registered as a new breed when its kittens were born with the same folded ears. Remember that Scottish Folds are prone to mites and deafness if you intend to purchase one. Scottish Fold cats have also been bred with British and American Short hairs for this reason.
