The buddy made the call to the authorities and gave them the whole tale. She reportedly informed law enforcement that Cindy lacked the financial resources to cover the costs of the theft. Things looked quite fishy all around. She did it because she cared about Cindy and wanted what was best for Cindy. That Cindy’s date was up to no good and would take advantage of her, as her buddy feared.
