22. The Quiet Escape
Every muscle in his body tensed as he lowered himself inch by inch, the ground seeming impossibly far below.
The night air was cool against his skin, and the only sound was the rustling of the leaves in the gentle breeze.
Tommy’s heart raced as he glanced up at his window, willing himself to go faster. He couldn’t shake the fear that someone would wake up and catch him in the act.
23. Almost at the Bottom
As he neared the ground, Tommy’s arms burned with exertion, but he pushed through the pain, his determination driving him forward.
Finally, his feet touched the ground, and he let out a sigh of relief. He glanced up at his window, the curtains fluttering slightly in the breeze, before turning and running into the night.
Tommy knew he had to move quickly if he was going to find a way to help his family.
