The Cornish Rex originated in the 1950s on a Cornwall, U.K. farm. The Rex was a genetic mutation found in the litter of kittens. Instead of having three different types of hair in its coat the way most cats do, the Cornish Rex only has down hair. The Cornish Rex is extremely affectionate, and it loves to demand companionship and attention.

Another unique feature is the breed’s tiny head—its head is much smaller than that of other breeds, and the size discrepancy is often highlighted by its oversized ears.
