The California Spangled looks a bit like a wildcat, and its spots and stance are reminiscent of the leopard and ocelot wildcats. These California Spangled cats are pretty expensive, costing between $800 and $2,500. The popularity of the Bengal and Ocelot overshadowed the California Spangled’s development, but these cats are still beloved.
The California Spangled was created in 1971 when Paul Casey, a Hollywood writer and animal activist, and Louis Leaked, a well-known anthropologist, bred a cat that looked like a miniature leopard. Unfortunately, these cats are somewhat endangered, and, according to PetInsurance.com, there are only around 200 of them left.
