The Kanaani was first seen in Jerusalem in the 1990s. This experimental hybrid breed originated in Jerusalem, but the Kanaani has since become associated with Germany. To create this unique-looking breed, African Wildcats local to Jerusalem were bred with domestic house cats.

The Kanaani weighs 7 to 11 pounds and grows to a height of 12 to 16 inches. They’re best suited to households that have a lot of space for them to run around and play, though these cats don’t do well with young children.
