As its name implies, this beautiful cat breed originated in Russia and was officially recognized by breeders in 1937. The Russian Blue can be distinguished by its light silver to bluish-gray double-coat and spectacular gorgeous emerald-green eyes. Not only their elegant looks but their superior intelligence makes them a very popular breed among cat holders. They can live from 15 to 20 years and are a low-maintenance breed, but $1000 a year would be advisable to budget as a Russian Blue owner.
