Emily realized the plan
The story explains why Luna always seemed so peaceful when she was around Jake. Even though she was still somewhat surprised, Emily began to see how it all fit together. She asked Jake what would have happened if she had changed her mind about getting a cat at the eleventh hour. Jake knew the situation would work out since he knew her better than anybody.
