The Stakeout
The police decided to wait until the person returned that night to take him in. Sure enough, he returned but didn’t look dangerous at all. The stranger’s name was Jack and he had been living in the basement for several months. He had lost his job and his apartment and had nowhere else to go.
He had stumbled upon the hidden entrance behind the stove and had made it his temporary home. The police were relieved to find out that Jack had no intention of harming Ben and his family. He was just looking for a place to stay until he could get back on his feet. Ben was relieved that his family was safe and that the stranger wasn’t a threat. And all of this was thanks to Mittens’ persistence.
