As Danny drove, he felt an increasing bond with the kitten. The little animal seemed to sense his care and attention, and it started purring contentedly as they traveled along. For a moment, all of the confusion about why the locals were so against him taking the cat away was forgotten, and all that mattered was providing a secure home for the kitten.
