While walking along a road in Texas, a passerby noticed two small heads peering out from behind a fallen tree. Quick to recognize the situation, he texted his daughter to alert her of the vulnerable puppies he had found.
Lenny, a passionate dog lover, didn’t waste any time. Upon receiving the message, she immediately headed to the location. Once there, she saw the two abandoned puppies, who were in poor condition with fleas and skin infections.

Initially, the puppies appeared wary, but as soon as Lenny noticed their tails wagging, she knew they were open to receiving help.
As she approached, the puppies gazed at her with the endearing innocence that dogs often possess. To her relief, they allowed her to scoop them up easily and transport them to her vehicle.

Seated in the car’s back seat, the two puppies, later named Bugg and Doc, expressed their gratitude by sobbing with joy, touched by their unexpected rescue. Lenny was so moved that she shed a tear herself, determined to ensure they received the care they needed.
At Lenny’s home, the puppies quickly settled in. “They seemed so relieved,” Lenny shared with The Dodo. “I put them in the air-conditioning, and they immediately relaxed and were ready to sleep.”

Following a much-needed rest, Lenny knew she had to address their health needs first. “I immediately gave them a dog oatmeal bath due to the fleas,” she explained. The pups clearly enjoyed the soothing treatment, and it contributed significantly to their improved appearance.
Next on the agenda was a visit to the vet. Her initial fears were alleviated when the vet confirmed that although the puppies had skin conditions, these were not contagious. The treatment plan involved antibiotics alongside regular oatmeal baths.

Progress came swiftly for Bugg and Doc. Their skin infections began to clear, and soon their coats started to regrow, revealing their true beauty. “I’ve never witnessed such a dramatic transformation,” Lenny remarked with happiness.
As Bugg and Doc neared full recovery, Lenny faced a tough decision about their future. Although separating the puppies might have increased their chances of being adopted, she felt strongly that they should stay together. “They had already been through so much, I couldn’t bear to separate them,” she said.

Her instincts proven right one morning when she received an eager message: “Oh my gosh! Please tell me you still have them.” Abby, a woman from Massachusetts, made the journey to Texas to adopt the duo. When she arrived, her vehicle was filled with toys for the puppies.
“I just knew instantly, these were their new owners,” Lenny expressed.

Renamed Bugz and Bear, the dogs embarked on a new chapter, traveling to their new home. Regardless of the distance, in Lenny’s heart, Bugg and Doc would always be the little puppies who, once curled up by that fallen tree, brought her some of the happiest memories of her life.
