At the local animal shelter, a cat named Whiskers had become somewhat of a legend, returned for the ninth time by yet another exasperated family.
The staff, used to seeing animals come and go, couldn’t understand why this seemingly gentle and affectionate feline couldn’t find a lasting home.
Each return brought more mystery and frustration, but nothing prepared them for the discovery that would unfold with Whiskers’ latest return.
As they examined Whiskers more closely, the staff’s faces turned pale, and the air filled with a heavy silence.
