Hadn’t spoken a word
As the trial continued, Ava was sure the judge was fully convinced this was the right family for her. She hadn’t spoken a word yet, but the judge hadn’t asked her anything either.
All Ava did was listen in silence and occasionally look down at her new shoes. But that was about to change very soon.
