She Didn’t Want To Look Back
She stopped abruptly in her tracks. She sensed that someone or something was following her. The sound of dead leaves and branches breaking beneath a footstep filled the air. She was no longer the only one on the path.
When she swiveled, she encountered something incredibly unexpected. Her pulse was pounding, and droplets of perspiration trickled down her face. She was in a predicament.
Loved The Outdoors
Jenna was fixated on the natural world and the outside. At whatever point she could, she would assemble her climbing apparatus and get ready for a long day in the open air on the ends of the week.
She delighted in the scent of the outside air and having the breeze blow through her tresses. Although trekking and outside activities had a calming effect on her, she was aware she had to remain vigilant at all times.
Going It Alone
Jenna was a member of lots of hiking and wildlife protection organizations, but she chose to go alone. To her, it was about what she could accomplish on her treks and the sights she could observe.
She did not like having other people with her while she walked because she preferred the tranquility of silence, and people in groups usually talked constantly.
Peace And Quiet
She yearned for tranquility so she could concentrate on her environment and observe all the gifts nature presented.
She was conscious that going for a walk by herself had some negatives. She was familiar with the risks and made sure to always take her phone, a lamp, a whistle and a flare gun with her that were all powered up.
A Favorite
Early on a Saturday morning, precisely at 6 o’clock, Jenna was completely prepared to leave. Montana was her home, granting her the opportunity to investigate all the different national parks.
She would continually favor going to the famous Yellowstone National Park for its plentiful creatures, as well as its rich background.
Unique Animals
At one of her conservation club meetings, she heard stories about some rare animals that made the park their home. It was said that if she was lucky enough, she might even be able to catch a glimpse of a wolverine.
Jenna had made up her mind; she was determined to view something that was novel to her.
What Was Going To Happen
However, Jenna had no idea what was waiting for her. On that day, she got into her car and set off to the park without any expectations.
She was ready, yet not for what was coming on the trek. She had experienced a lot of creatures while walking, however this would be a day she would always remember.
Breathing In The Air
She hefted her bag onto her shoulders and inhaled the crisp morning air. “Ah, nothing like starting the day with a breath of fresh air!” she mused.
She gestured to the park attendant, Danny, and proceeded to the trail. On this occasion, she opted for an alternate route than what she typically took. It was certain to be an exciting day.
Strange Weather
On her way into the park, the sky was quite pleasant, but the further she went, a chill blew among the leaves. She spoke to herself, “What an odd atmosphere.
She was fortunate to have brought along a thin coat, just in case there were any unexpected changes in the weather. She kept moving forward, peering through the shrubs and foliage, hoping to catch a glimpse of the mysterious wolverines.
A Small Chance
She was doubtful she would catch sight of them. Jenna wished to at least spot one and take a picture.
Danny, the park ranger, told Jenna that these animals were actually night-time predators, and that made it much harder to find one. Jenna had no idea that something else was in store for her during her trek.
Challenges
For the past sixty minutes, Jenna had been delightedly walking the path she chose. Although it had some difficult ascents, she stayed determined and kept going. Now, she was about to face another trial.
In an instant, the park was totally silent. No birds tweeting, no animals making noises. Even the trees were still and Jenna felt a great discomfort.
An Eerie Silence
Jenna was surrounded by a strange quietness, causing the hairs on her neck to rise. This sensation was unfamiliar to her, as she had never experienced it before during her many trips to Yellowstone.
She halted her stroll and froze in place for a brief interlude. She examined her vicinity. It seemed as though the park had ceased all movement.
A Menacing Feeling
She had a feeling that something wasn’t right. The atmosphere seemed off and almost dangerous. She could feel the chill on her skin and observed her arms developing bumps.
She entered a realm of quiet and tranquility. Everything was still, until suddenly she heard a noise. It was as if she was in an entirely different place.
Is Anybody There
Once she heard it, she glanced around, yet couldn’t spot anything. An unfamiliar fear swept over her; she had never experienced such emotion in the park before.
She had a feeling that someone or something was looking at her and it made her uneasy. She spoke up, inquiring, “Who’s there? Can you hear me?
Another Hiker
It could have been someone trekking on the path, however, if that was the case, why didn’t they show themselves to her or reply when she shouted?
She tried to get someone’s attention. “Hey, is anyone here? Please let me know if you are,” she said, wishing somebody would appear from the darkness.
No One There
No-one declared themselves, and the location where she was stayed intimidating, frigid, and calm. Subsequently, she heard something else.
She heard the crunch of dead vegetation beneath her feet and recognized it immediately. It was a sound she knew, and it meant that someone or something was right behind her. Jenna was petrified.
Coming Towards Her
She gasped for air, her pulse racing rapidly. An additional thud was heard, and something was inching closer to her.
She longed to look back and confront whatever was there, but she was scared out of her wits. She had no clue as to what she was up against. Could it be a person, or was it a creature?
She Was Ready
She tightly held the small blade that was attached to her waist. If anyone wanted to do her harm, she was prepared to defend herself. She cautiously rotated her body to investigate who or what was trailing her.
Jenna was prepared for whatever came her way, so she trained herself to act quickly. She inhaled deeply and spun around slowly. Her amazement was clear on her face.
Not Anticipated
She looked upon an unexpected sight; a grey wolf. It let out a deep rumble and was steadily advancing towards her. She tried to remember what to do in this situation.
Calmly, Jenna attempted to reassure the wolf that she was not a threat. However, the animal continued to approach her with its head bowed menacingly.
Something Wrong
Jenna observed the creature moving in her direction, but she saw something else too. Instead of striding, the wolf appeared to be hobbling.
It appeared that the unfortunate creature was hurt. Its rear limb was stained with blood, and it produced a feeble cry. This wasn’t a fluke. This animal needed assistance.
Needing Help
Jenna bent down to get on the same level as the creature. She knew it was a very dangerous thing to do, but she was determined to help it.
She thought the creature was trailing her out of need and not to inflict any damage. Softening her tone, she started to communicate with it once more.
I’m Going To Help You
It’s alright. I’m here to aid you. But you must be quiet, pal. I’d like to check out that bad injury of yours,” she quietly intoned.
The wolf seemed to take note of Jenna as it hobbled towards her on three legs. Her heart began to race with excitement and apprehension.
Calling For Help
She realized that she must establish a relationship of confidence with the creature if she was going to be able to provide assistance. However, she was well aware that she wouldn’t be able to perform medical care on a wild animal alone. She had to act quickly in order to get the support she required.
Hold on, friend,” she uttered. Taking out her device, she dialed Danny’s number. He’d be able to help out with this task.
Danny Arrives
It took Danny 45 minutes to get to where Jenna was. He moved cautiously towards her and the wolf, being careful not to make any noise. He concealed himself in the shrubbery, looking for the ideal spot to utilize his tranquilizer gun.
When he achieved the ideal point of aim, he released a solitary round into the wolf’s shoulder. It uttered a yell and gradually dropped to the floor.
Bray
He expressed gratitude for her reaching out to him. Without delay, he said he had to start his task. He was prepared with a rucksack filled with medical items for creatures.
The injury was not severe, however it was necessary to take care of it before it became contaminated. “It looks like Bray had a quarrel with some other guy. It’s the time of year when they get hostile,” Danny mentioned.
Relieved
He gave the injury a thorough clean, covered it with a dressing, and injected Bray with a medicine that would relieve the pain. “That should provide some temporary relief. He should recover soon and the limping should stop in around seven days,” Danny said.
Jenna was content. She was delighted that Bray would make it and that she was able to be of assistance. She sensed that she had achieved something, and she was quite proud of herself.
Returning To The Park
Approximately seven days after, upon her return to the park, Danny verified that Bray had been spotted heading in the direction of the northern area of the recreation area.
Jenna beamed. She was absolutely delighted that Bray was finally better and was able to move around freely. She went down the same path she had previously, as she wanted to take in more of the scenery. However, something unexpected happened again.
He Was There
In front of her on the path, Bray was present. He smelled the atmosphere as if to make sure it was the individual he was seeking.
Jenna lowered herself to the ground to demonstrate that she posed no danger. “Hello Bray,” she said, her voice gentle and tranquil. “Danny said you’ve recovered completely. That’s wonderful news.
The Pack
At that instant, Bray was accompanied by the remainder of his group. Jenna was astonished. Her pulse rate accelerated unstoppably, and she felt scared once again.
The collection of animals stayed in place, gazing at her. Subsequently, they all began to move away at a brisk pace. As she observed, Bray twisted his head to glance at her one final time, and then he was absent.
Thank You
Jenna couldn’t help but cry as she watched Bray and his friends come together to meet the person who had rescued him. This was Bray’s way of showing his appreciation.
She would always keep the instant and the recollection in her mind. It was not unexpected that Yellowstone was her treasured park. She only ever derived pleasure from the miracles that nature bestowed upon her.
