It’s hard to fathom the despair and fear a gentle Pit Bull must have experienced when he was left tied to a pole, abandoned in the chilly night air. This lonely pup trembled from the cold, struggling just to stay on his feet, while those nearby chose not to step in to help.
The long hours spent on the icy pavement brought feelings of desperation, leaving the dog yearning for someone to show him kindness during his darkest moments.
Thankfully, some kind-hearted strangers happened to pass by the abandoned dog and immediately came to his rescue. When he saw them approaching, the dog’s name—soon to be Lentil—lifted his spirits, and he eagerly wagged his tail. As they untied him, they gently petted him, feeling sorrow at the sight of him shivering from the cold.
These caring individuals wanted to reunite Lentil with his owner. They spread the word on social media by posting his picture and story on local lost and found pages. Their efforts caught the attention of Sarah Borok, a rescuer who felt compelled to help Lentil find a temporary foster home.
Once settled into a home, Lentil’s relieved demeanor showed he was house-trained, and within a couple of days, Sarah brought him into her own care. Lentil immediately endeared himself to Sarah, who found him to be the perfect companion—sweet-natured and affectionate.
“I instantly fell in love with him… He’s so cuddly, just very gentle and well-behaved,” Sarah shared with The Dodo. Lentil thrived on affection and wanted to be near Sarah constantly, soaking in her care.
Although the trauma of his ordeal initially made outings daunting for him, Sarah’s encouragement and affection helped Lentil gain confidence over time.
Lentil’s amiable personality shone through as he readily made friends with both dogs and cats. Despite Sarah’s desire to keep him, her cat Barbara wasn’t too fond of Lentil, prompting Sarah to find a new home for him through Rain Or Shine Rescue in New York City.
The rescue organization has received numerous adoption applications and is carefully reviewing each to select the best forever family for Lentil.
Lentil eagerly looks forward to meeting his new family and showering them with the boundless love and affection he has to offer.
